Course overview
Essential Skills for Career Development is for people who know that to succeed in your career you’ll need to add critical soft skills to your technical abilities.
Why should you sign up for this course?
The Re:Coded Inspire Series are self-paced short courses, designed to develop your soft, career, and foundational technical skills. This is what makes these courses great.
- Our curriculum is developed by local experts focusing on the most fundamental you need to master.
- You’ll learn from international experts who will join us for live online sessions during the course.
- Our cohort-based approach helps cultivate a supportive learning community.
- Our courses are generously supported by our donors and are free.
“Unfortunately, some people believe that soft skills aren’t that important. However, almost every employer I’ve ever talked to about this disagrees. In a world where job roles are changing rapidly, soft skills will be one of the few constants”
“…resilience, respect, enthusiasm, and creativity [are] just as important as academic or technical skills. In an ever more competitive jobs market, it is such qualities that will give our young talent a head start and also allow existing employees to progress to higher skilled, better paid roles.”

When you look up future skills for work, a lot of things come up around automation. But Essential Skills for Career Development are about going back to what makes us human.
"In a world where reliance on technology is on the rise and where information is abundant, skills like creativity, working in teams, empathy, and self-reflection will be more important than ever."
Go ahead and read the full interview with our course developer Rana Magdy to get her insights into what went into this course and why these skills are critical to your success.
Yes!! Well, almost that is! If you fit the criteria, admission is free and open.

You will do this course in your own time using our LMS (Learning Management System) as this course is self-paced and asynchronous. You won't be alone though. You will start your learning at the same time as everyone else who has been admitted, and you will get an opportunity to join our community and participate in a kick-off event where you will meet the other students.
Throughout the course, there will be live seminars with local or international experts, and you will be put through your paces with discussions, assignments, and quizzes.
Yes, you get a certificate of completion once you complete the course. You will receive this in PDF format and also instructions on how to embed your certificate into your LinkedIn profile.
Well, it is possible to finish the course in less than 3 weeks. However, we highly recommend that you don't rush through the course and take the time to complete it with quality. We recommend that you try and utilize the entire 3 weeks, join the optional seminars, and engage with your classmates.
It’s not mandatory to join the online community events or seminars, however, they are filled with valuable information and allow you to hear from experts and engage with your classmates.
