In a recent review of inspiring projects in the Middle East funded by Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ CCI), Re:Codeds advocacy campaign of January 2023, was flagged as best practice.
“The results – a huge outreach and engagement – speak for themselves and have been extraordinary,” said Richard Epstein, Regional Advisor for GIZ CCI.
The campaign reached over 5.2 million impressions and had 1.4 million video views and ultimately around 14.000 people visited the campaign landing page and it’s content in the four-week-long campaign.
“We’re incredibly proud of these results. We know that there is both a global potential and a local demand for digital design skills, and that is the message we wanted to spread. The campaign focused on how to build a career in UX/UI design and ultimately, we saw a huge interest from youth in Iraq, Lebanon, and Jordan,” said Lars Højholt, Director of Communication at Re:Coded.
The digital economy has grown 2.5 times faster than global GDP in recent years, and even despite the pandemic, it continued to grow. While global demand for creative and design skills is high and growing, the regional digital design industry is still in its early stages.
With this in mind, it makes a lot of sense to focus on job creation and job opportunities in the digital economy to create more modern and sustainable economies.
In a study from 2021, creative digital skills were cited among the top 5 skills employers required in the Kurdistan Region of Iraq and this data is also validated by Re:Coded’s own experiences with a 91% employment rate of job-seeking graduates from our UX/UI Design Bootcamps.
“This campaign is a testament to the Re:Coded’s mission to help youth find meaningful employment in the digital economy. We're very proud not only to be recognized for the impact of our work but in this case also for the quality of our work, processes, and people,” says Lars Højholt.
