Learning with Re:Coded

After 5 months of intensive training, I graduated from Re:Coded and Flatiron School Front-End Bootcamp. It was hard like running a marathon. We completed many projects to achieve specific goals as a team. I want to say thanks to Re:Coded for supporting me. I didn't have a chance to choose my university in Turkey. I didn't have an allowance to enter coding courses. But Re:Coded gave me a chance and let me study what I want.

  • React application

“This is when it really started coming together. Everything suddenly got much easier when we started learning React and we started building real projects and websites”

Introduction to backend

After 9 weeks of mastering frontend skills, students move on to learn about building the backend. Writing backend code requires an intimate understanding of REST and the request-response lifecycle. Students will learn how to build and run a local server with API endpoints using Node.js and Express.js, handle GET, POST, and other HTTP requests, perform validations and return a structured response. Students will also learn basic server-side rendering, API building best practices and API documentation tools.

Skills

  • Node.js & Express.js
  • SQL and other databases
  • CRUD and data models
  • API documentation

What you will build

This is when you really start adding the interactive elements that allow you to build genuine projects. Those skills will expand your capability to a wider range of applications and projects.

  • Creating full backend stack for Web applications using  Node.js & Express.js and Databases.
  • Build RESTful APIs to expose the functionality of your applications to other developers.
  • Live data Dashboards and real-time collaboration tools.
  • E-Commerce Platforms: develop simple e-commerce platforms that allow users to browse, search and purchase products.
  • Social media alpha platforms that allow users to share content and follow other users implemented with authentication, Nodejs, and database skills.

Advanced backend

This is when it really starts to get tough, and all your logical sense and problem-solving skills will be tested. To build anything beyond small projects, you will need to master automated testing, learn about security and authentication, and automated testing.

Sondes Ismail

"I made small squares using the wet mud [in the garden], with just the right amount of water to keep it rigid. Then they turned into mud persons with personalities and their own chairs and cars and houses. That’s design. That is my most precious memory of knowing that upon aging, creativity and design were to become my sense of life."

Why should I join this bootcamp?

The more skills you master, the better start you’re likely to get to your career as a developer. In job postings, you will often see employers looking for a couple of years of experience, and while that it hard to achieve if you just got started, the more skills & experience you can list on that CV of yours, the better chance you stand.

In this bootcamp you will learn both frontend and backend web development, and you will master them at a level where you can go out and land your first job with confidence. We typically have a ~90% employment rate for our graduates, so take a chance on yourself and get ready for a new start to your life!

Will I learn more than just the basics of frontend and backend development in this bootcamp?

You will learn both for sure and it will be enough for you to start a career. But don’t forget - learning how to code is a life-long process, so our emphasis is on teaching you how to learn and how to keep learning on your own. Coding is a field in constant development and you will need to keep up to pace with everything, so learning and finding a solution on your own might be the single most useful skill, you will master at the end of this program.

What programming languages are essential for fullstack developers to learn?

A fullstack developer is a developer who can build both the frontend and the backend of a website.

To make it more simple, a fullstack developer knows how to code the browser as well as how to code the server.

For the frontend or coding the browser: The most required skills are Javascript and modern frontend frameworks like Angular, React, or Vue. The latter two are more popular and in market demand. In this bootcamp, we will especially be teaching you React.

For the backend (or coding the server) there are multiple languages and frameworks - or tech stacks, in other words. You can build the backend using Node.js (a Javascript framework that we teach in our backend curriculum) or Python or Java or PHP or ASP dot net. All of these tools are alternatives to do the same thing - build the backend. The fundamental concepts are the same in all these languages.

From a learning perspective, most developers solidify their concepts by learning one language or framework end-to-end before they become more language or framework agnostic and pick up other tech stacks.

In this bootcamp, we will focus on Javascript, but our alumni found jobs working with other tech stacks like Python, Ruby and Go.

What is the average salary for a fullstack developer and who typically earns a higher salary - a frontend, backend, or fullstack developer?

Average salaries differ from country to country, but in general, employers are looking for as much experience and many different skills as possible. As a fullstack developer you will cover a wide range of languages, libraries and skills in general, and employers will reward you accordingly.

Will this bootcamp help me find a job?

While nothing is ever guaranteed, we had a job employment rate of over 85% for our graduates depending on the program. We know that there’s more to getting hired than having a great portfolio and technical knowledge, and our curriculum includes built-in career development, so you can enter the job market confident and prepared. Not to mention that our Career Services team will support you for 6 months to help you land the job of your dreams.

Is it really free?

Yes! Like every other program at Re:Coded we are kindly supported by our donors. In the application form, you will be able to see which donor is supporting your bootcamp.

Will I earn a certificate?

Yes, if you complete the curriculum, participate actively in the live online classes, finish your assignment and fulfill your commitment to your classmates, you will receive a Re:Coded certificate at the end of the bootcamp.

‍What is the class schedule like?

Our live online classes are typically spread out over two nights during the week and a half day on the weekend. The exact time of the classes will be shown in the application form.

Why should I apply to this bootcamp instead of learning on my own?

Learning on your own is great, and we love it ourselves. But a bootcamp gives you something else. Instead of browsing around to learn bits and pieces whenever you can find time for it, a bootcamp gives you structure and support to take a leap forward in no time.

A Re:Coded bootcamp also gives you something else. We want to support your leadership and collaboration skills by teaching you the fundamental soft skills essential to employers when they're looking for people to join their team.

Often the community among students, support, and soft skills training are among the things our students point out as truly unique and valuable parts of our bootcamps.

Who shall I contact if I have questions about the Admissions process?

We’re doing our best to make your application process the best possible, but surely there is always room for approval or you might just have a question about your application.

Our Admissions team is always happy to answer any questions you may have! Please reach out to admissions@re-coded.com.
